In summer of 2020, Artscape partnered with Contemporary Art centre in Lithuania and have organized day children’s summer camps at Contemporary art centre (CAC).
During the camp children with refugee backgrounds along with other local children, spent 4 days of participatory arts activities with artists and educators. 3 summer camps were organized as a united effort, where 11 refugees participated. This project has brought chilren closer together and fostered their interaction.
Artscape director, Aiste Ulubey, said “new partnership with CAC demonstrates how local art institutions could be used to organize more art and educational projects to benefit refugees and host communities. Newcomer kids said it was best time of their lifes- they as well developed new skills and made new friendships.” Camps were partly funded by Vilnius municipality and UNHCR.
