Meet the Mentees & Mentors of Artscape Mentorship Program 2024: Kseniia Buryka (Ukraine)
We are starting Meet the Mentees & Mentors of Artscape Mentorship Program 2024 series of introduction.
Kseniia Buryka is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in visual arts, aerial arts, and sculpture. She explores street theatre and performance, working with objects, movement, light, and visual art. She creates circus performances that incorporate audio and sculpture light objects made from bioplastic materials, which degrade during the performance or have a limited lifespan. Originally from Ukraine, she is now based in Lithuania.
Kseniia’s work extends to aerial silks, trapeze, and hammock, where she imparts her knowledge and passion for aerial arts. Currently, she focuses on themes of human fragility, hope, and safe spaces, coexistence of human and the environment.
Her mentor – Gildas Aleksa is a theater director and performing arts producer. He is the head of “Teatronas,” one of the main organizations strategically developing contemporary circus in Lithuania, and the artistic director of the international contemporary circus festival “Cirkuliacija.”
Artscape Mentorship Program is a cultural-educational program created to nurture creativity and empower artists and creatives with a refugee background to develop their artistic and cultural ideas.
The program powered by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
Program partners: the Vilnius City Municipality, the Kazickas Family Foundation, and the Lithuanian Culture Council.
