Meet the Mentees & Mentors of Artscape Mentorship Program 2024: Oleksandra Mazurenko (Ukraine)
Oleksandra Mazurenko is a Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist whose work delves into themes of absurdity and social issues. Her practice spans installation, performance art, and text, with a current focus on textiles and stone as mediums. Through her art, Oleksandra aims to create a dialogue between the inner self and reactions to the external world, using her voice to highlight pressing social issues and themes. She is dedicated to exploring how art can act as a powerful tool for expression and social change.
Oleksandra holds a bachelor’s degree in screenwriting from Kyiv and a master’s degree in visual arts from Vilnius. She is based in Vilnius, where she also works as an educator at the MO Museum.
Her mentor, Agnietė Lisičkinaitė, is a Lithuanian contemporary dance artist, choreographer, and educator. A graduate of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with specializations in contemporary dance, Agnietė is known for her innovative choreography, which often explores themes of protest, political influence, and social connections. From 2020 to 2024, she led the Contemporary Dance Association and currently serves on its board. Agnietė’s work has been presented internationally in over 20 European countries, featured in prestigious festivals such as the Santarcangelo Festival, Theatre de la Ville, Munich Dance Festival, and Be Motion.
