The first phase of the Artscape Mentorship Program has concluded

In the summer, the first stage of the ‘Artscape’ mentorship program, themed ‘Connected by Culture,’ aimed at creators who have sought refuge in Lithuania, came to an end.

Following an open call for applications in the spring, 13 participants were invited to join the program, including artists from fields such as theater, visual arts, music, and other disciplines. The program lasts for seven months, working in collaboration with cultural organizations and creative professionals to strengthen the creative network of the mentorship program participants and to develop their artistic ideas.

‘We are very excited to introduce the participants to Lithuania’s art and cultural ecosystem, and to introduce previously undiscovered creators to cultural organizations,’ said Aistė Ulubey, founder and director of the arts agency.

The program is being implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Refugee Agency.

A joint exhibition featuring works by participants of the Artscape mentorship program was also presented. During the exhibition, six artists showcased individual art pieces created specifically for this event. Additionally, all major events were documented by one of the participants of the mentorship program.

We are very pleased that three participants of the mentorship program are currently interning at the National Gallery of Art.

The second phase of the program began in the fall, with participants starting their meetings with mentors and continuing exploratory visits to cultural organizations. The Užupis Art Incubator, SODAS 2123, and the Contemporary Art Centre hosted the mentorship participants, and preparations for the final event of the year are underway.

Program partners include Vilnius City Municipality, the Kazickas Family Foundation, the Lithuanian Council for Culture, the Department of National Minorities, and the Goethe Institute.

The activity is part of the “Get the net” project (The Action Civil Society Cooperation in the fields of Youth, Education and Training – FPA (ERASMUS-2023-CSC-OG-FPA).

About the program

The Artscape Mentorship Program is the first cultural educational initiative designed to promote creative activity among artists and creators who have sought refuge in Lithuania. Selected participants will have the opportunity to take part in a training cycle, build connections with Lithuanian cultural organizations, engage in a 1:1 mentorship program with cultural professionals, and develop their individual or group artistic initiatives.

The goal of the mentorship program is to create a creative educational space where participants can strengthen their artistic authenticity and foster collaboration between Lithuanian cultural organizations, cultural professionals, and creators who have arrived in Lithuania.
