„Artscape“ participated in the Diversity Charter’s annual conference „Superdiversity: unveiling hidden layers“

May 22 The annual Diversity Charter conference was held in Vilnius„Superdiversity: unveiling hidden layers“, during which it was discussed how society is changing, how identities are being reconstructed, and what forms of discrimination this can create.

This year, the art agency “Artscape” was a partner of the conference, and the agency’s manager and founder Aistė Ulubey moderated one of the discussions „Taking into account intersectionality – employer‘s experience“ Karolina Kontrimienė, head of events and initiatives at Vinted, HR business partner of “IKI Lietuva”, Alina Buidovaitė – Gurklienė, fund-raising coordinator of the organization “Pripraštos rankos” and Arvydas Makselis, head of the personnel team at Moody’s Lithuania, participated. These are representatives of companies where spaces are created, where groups with fewer opportunities or more socially vulnerable groups can participate and integrate.

“At Artscape, we address issues of inclusion through professional art forms, and for over 12 years we have been creating spaces where vulnerable or groups having fewer opportunities can participate. Refugees, persons in prisons, and others. Therefore, I was very pleased to be on stage with people who create such spaces where everyone can be seen, appreciated, and feel important”, said A. Ulubey, opening the discussion.

The participants of the discussion presented the experience of their companies in employing socially vulnerable groups, prisoners who are serving or have already served their sentence, and people who have returned from a long migration. The representative of “IKI Lithuania”, whose company employs prisoners who are serving or have already served their sentence, said that although such organizations already exist in Lithuania, but we are still lacking, as there are many who are able and willing to work. The participants of the discussion also noticed that working with socially vulnerable groups requires a lot of emotional preparation because people are very diverse and different.

The annual Diversity Charter Conference is an event about diversity and openness in organizations, where hundreds of responsible employers meet.
